B&D were very pleased with their performance of Cambridge Variations at the North West Area on Sunday 28th February. In a strong field of 13 bands the feedback from spectators was very encouraging and we were expecting a top six placing. Our soloists played outstanding with some great ensemble work from the band we were placed 7th.

After a fantastic year celebrating our 175th anniversary last year we started 2016 with the news that our band had been granted charity status. So if you are a taxpayer we get another 25% for every donation you make. We are currently on the lookout for someone who can help with promoting the band and help with fundraising. If you’ve got time on your hands and would like to get involved please get in touch secretary@blackburnanddarwenband.co.uk

We are delighted that after various fundraising events in 2015 including our fabulous 175 teetotallers we have now raised enough money to purchase 2 Bb basses. Thank you all so much for supporting B&D Band.

The audience were treated to some super playing at our Stage and Screen concert on Sunday afternoon at Thwaites Empire. The programme had music to suit all tastes, well done to our fabulous soloists Rob and Rhiannon from the band plus two talented young vocalists, Heather and Lucy from Blackburn Central High School. After the Finale performance of West Side Story, the band paid tribute to Sir Terry Wogan by playing The Floral Dance. Thanks to everyone who came and supported us.

Take a look at our photos from this concert. Thanks to Rachael Helmore.
