David MacLeod - Solo Trombone

David started playing Trombone at the age of 10, and had a good grounding in Brass Bands as a member of the Carrick Youth Brass Band under the guidance of Mr John Boax. Having won the Scottish Schools Solo Championships and various solo and quartet prizes with Carrick and Dunaskin Doon bands respectively he went on to play for a number of successful Scottish Bands, the most recent of which was Dalmellington where he played in their winning 1st section Scottish Champion Band of 2006.

David had a period of ill health and whilst undergoing treatment had to take a break from playing. Once he had recovered he was determined to do something different and to take on a fresh challenge. Having looked at Bands outside of his local area of Ayrshire, Scotland, he contacted Blackburn and Darwen and was invited to play at a couple of Christmas concerts. Despite the 3½ hour journey south, he was impressed with how friendly and welcoming the band was.

We are delighted that David has since committed to the band for the forthcoming contest season, and hope he enjoys a happy and successful time with us.
