Rob Johnson - 3rd Man

Rob is the son of the band’s Soprano Cornet player, Tom, and like his father began playing at the Hesketh Bank Band at the age of 11. He was taught by Mike Ascroft, and for a time by the Band’s Solo Horn player Tariq Ahmed.

Highlights of his banding to date include taking part in The Liverpool Echo with Valley Brass, a special collaboration between the band, Vassily Petrenko and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, No Fakin DJs, and the Liverpool Welsh Choir. He also enjoyed winning the Hebden Bridge March & Hymn contest with Blackburn and Darwen.

Rob’s favourite pieces are Les Preludes, Paganini Variations & Music of the Spheres. Rob works for his father and supports a reasonably successful football team called Man Utd.
